Lead the robot revolution, on a budget
What: SingularityU Canada Meet the Faculty Webinar Series: Meet Ryan Gariepy
When: Monday, July 22, 2019 | 3:30 PM EST
Who: Ryan Gariepy, SingularityU Canada Robotics Faculty
The public perception of robots is often focused on the best drones to buy for the holidays, the latest research videos of robots doing parkour, and the question of when it will be possible to sleep in on the way to work. Developing world-changing technologies in this way requires hundred of millions, if not billions of dollars. Fortunately, there is so much more that autonomous systems are capable of, and not everything needs a massive budget to make a global impact.
In this webinar, you will learn about the common challenges inherent in all robotics development programs, and discover how to take advantage of global trends to drive exponential change without exponential increases in time, money, and risk.
Ryan is the CTO of Clearpath Robotics. He drives research and development of the OTTO industrial self driving vehicle software and guides the continued expansion of Clearpath’s world-leading efforts in supporting robotics researchers. He is also a co-founder of the Robot Operating System developers’ conference and is a member of a variety of industrial and academic steering committees.
