Smart City 2.0

What: SingularityU Canada Meet the Faculty Webinar Series: Meet Rodolphe el-Khoury

When: Thursday November 21, 2019 | 2:00 PM EST

Who: Rodolphe el-Khoury, SingularityU Canada Smart Cities Faculty

The discussion and design of smart cities has focused on how to digitize the complex processes that define the city and on how, in turn, to instrumentalize the collected data for the optimization of such processes. This webinar will explore possibilities for turning data collection and use into a tangible phenomenon that animates public spaces and engages citizens.

About RodolpheDean at University of Miami School of Architecture, Rodolphe el-Khoury presents architectural projects that use emerging technology to enable responsiveness and interactivity in the city. The examples emphasize the social benefits of the embedded technologies: not only do they make our cities healthier, more sustainable, and more efficient, they also animate our public spaces, they make them more welcoming and accommodating, prompting us to connect, socialize, and come together as a community. Such projects point to a near future where smart and responsive urban environments become vibrant and effective platforms for social media.
